in 1511 where they searched for cloves,nutmeg and mace.

Flag Moluccas Flag Moluccas

The Moluccas Today is the 2nd most eastern province of East-Indonesia.

Geographically it's a part of Melanesia and lies next to Papua Province (West-Papua) Above Australia and right from Timor Leste.

It hasn't always been a part of Indonesia.

In 1950 they proclaimed independence on the Island of ''Ambon'' but were shortly invaded by a mass of Indonesian army troops.

 

(Atleast 8000 Victims fell in the Struggle for independence)

 

The Flag is a political symbol that was used & Introduced in 1950 to express their will of Freedom.

 

In 1950 tough been invaded they moved the struggle to the island of Seram where they fought a guerilla against Indonesia untill 1963.

 

''They were promised freedom by the Dutch in 1946.''

Loyalty

The Moluccans were the most loyal soldiers to the Dutch.
As a result they were called anjing belanda by Indonesians mainly from the islands of Java which stands for Dog of the Dutch or Belanda hitam which stands for black dutchmen.
